Potency Testing & Quality Control
Consistency and transparency are central to how we produce our mushroom products. Because naturally grown mushrooms can vary in chemical composition, each batch undergoes potency testing as part of our quality control process.
Potency testing allows us to measure the concentration of naturally occurring compounds present in the mushroom material and confirm consistency across batches.
Why Potency Testing Matters
Mushrooms are biological organisms, and like many natural products their chemistry can vary depending on:
• genetics
• growing conditions
• harvest timing
• drying and processing methods
Potency testing helps ensure that products made from these mushrooms remain consistent, predictable, and accurately formulated.
How Potency Testing Works
To analyze the compounds present in our mushrooms, a small sample from each batch is testing in house using a reaction solution test. Then they are sent for laboratory analysis.
The testing process generally includes:
1. Sample Preparation
A representative sample of the mushroom material is finely ground to create a uniform mixture. This ensures the sample accurately represents the entire batch.
2. Compound Extraction
The sample is processed using laboratory solvents to isolate the naturally occurring compounds present in the mushrooms.
3. Analytical Testing
This extraction is then allowed to react with a seperate solution which is then analyzed using a spectrophotometer, an instrument that measures how molecules absorb light at specific wavelengths. By examining the absorbance profile of the sample, we can detect and quantify key compounds present in the extract. Once in house potency is completed the extract is sent to a laboratory to be analyzed using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), a standard analytical technique used in pharmaceutical and food laboratories.
HPLC separates compounds based on their chemical properties and allows us to measure their concentration precisely.
This analysis identifies and quantifies compounds such as:
• psilocybin
• psilocin
• related tryptamine compounds
4. Quality Verification
The measured concentrations are compared against our formulation targets to verify consistency.
If a batch meets the quality standards, it proceeds to production. This testing helps ensure reliable potency and product uniformity.
Our Quality Approach
Every batch is produced with careful attention to:
• potency testing
• quality control procedures
• consistent formulation
These steps help ensure that each product reflects the intended composition and maintains the quality we expect from our cultivation and production process.
Transparency & Consistency
By combining careful cultivation with analytical testing, we aim to bridge the gap between traditional mushroom preparation and modern quality control standards.
This process helps ensure that every batch reflects the same level of care, consistency, and attention to detail.
